One out of five girls born

in the United States is a Latina, and

The Professional Latinas Alliance Network

is behind her.

Our Mission

P.L.A.N.'s commitment to unite successful professional Latinas that desire to:
  • Be an active and  involved mentor,
  • Be a mirror of success to the younger generation to
  • Connect their success to teens' potential.

Did you know...
* that suicide is the third leading cause of death among youth nationwide?

* that young Latinas rank the highest at depression and suicide  idealization?

* that high school dropout rates and teen pregnancy are associated with depression?

* that teen Latinas have the highest growing rate of HIV Infection?

One reach One Campaign

Often times, when we view the immensity of any issue, instead of stimulating us to act, it, in turn, robes of hope and positive expectations.   When we look at percentage rates, number of reported incidents along with news and reports, it is disheartening.  But, if we focus on helping ONE, it changes our perspective and encourages us to act.

On June 27, 2008, Dr. Zulma X Barrios in a Latina Empowerment Conference showed a group of professional Latinas overwhelming statistics and rates of suicide among young Latinas.  Then, she challenge us to "GO GET ONE!"  That is what we have been doing ever since.  It is the heartbeat of the Professional Latinas Alliance Network.

We, a group of professionals,  reach out to parents through free community workshops to help them understand the importance of their positive involvement in the life of their young people.  We reach teens, one on one, caring enough to model true personal success.   In our communities, we raise awareness through informative presentations and involvements.  Finally, we echo Dr. Barrios' challenge to "Go Get One" in our annual REACH Conferences.
